Center Parcs’ spa suites

As soon as I found out that Center Parcs had a range of spa suites, I was all over it like a rash. I took the boyfriend to indulge in some full-on R&R in the heart of Elveden Forest in Suffolk. I love the finer things in life, but don’t like to pay too much for them so at £159 each, this was right up my street.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the spa concierge who led us to our suite, which quite literally knocked us off our feet, I mean who’d want to stand when you could stretch across the lush sofa in the modern open-plan living space with a kitchen and dining area, and massive TV with integrated iPod system.

We stayed cool when she showed us the huge bedroom, the swish bathroom and we hid our squeals of excitement when she slid the frosted glass panelled door next to the bedroom to reveal a 3ft-wide bath tub with a flat screen TV that overlooked the veranda. As soon as she left we grabbed our cameras and took photos of every inch of the room and uploaded them to Facebook.

Once we’d calmed down, we donned our oversized robes and sipped on Cava, chomped on fruit and luxury biscuits while sprawled out on the super king-size bed. The combo of spa and Center Parcs is supposed to offer a mix of activity and relaxation, but we were happy to overdose on relaxation.

The intention was to take part in some of the activities, archery, fencing, climbing or something that would make me break into a sweat. But once I had that robe on, I knew we’d hardly leave the suite.

Soon our stomachs started rumbling so it was on to the Forester’s Inn, a gastro pub that serves homely comfort food. We ate at supersonic speed so we could get back to our room, something that our waitress Myra noticed and joked about. After pacing ourselves through desert, we headed back to our room where we sat on the sofa on the veranda, before snuggling up and watching a film from the selection of DVD’s left in the suite.

The next day we had breakfast in bed,  before checking out of our suite and heading off for our treatments at the ‘World of Spa’. We both had a face and body treatment, a neck, shoulder and back massage, a skin treatment and a facial.

After an hour of pampering, I was taken to the relaxation room and plonked myself on a luxury recliner, where I was given an herbal tea. Will was already in there half asleep, muttering about wanting to stay forever.

After lunch at Zilli Café we decided that we should venture outside, and take in the leafy surroundings, by bike. It was a perfect end to a perfect trip, life is suite and Center Parcs… Sorry I couldn’t help the terrible pun.

Looks amazing – we’ve done Center Parcs a few times but always “comfort”… I have sent a massive hint to my other half!
